About

Most marketing advice is recycled. This isn’t.

Search Insider publishes original research and unvarnished teardowns for people who have to actually hit a number, not for people collecting frameworks.

The short version

Why this exists

Most marketing advice is a rule someone repeated until it started sounding true. Almost nobody goes back and checks whether it still is, or whether it ever was.

That gets expensive. Businesses spend real budget on tactics that were never tested past the first person confident enough to say them out loud, and by the time the platform has moved on, the advice hasn't.

Search Insider exists to check. Every study here says how many pages, which dates, and what tool, so you can disagree with the conclusion and still trust the numbers. When something we published stops being true, we say so on the page rather than quietly leaving it up.

Alex Marjanovic

Founder & editor

I've built more than six online companies and advised others on digital strategy, ecommerce and product design. Different industries, same lesson every time: the edge was never in running the accepted playbook faster than everyone else. It was in finding the places the playbook was simply wrong.

So that's what I do now. I take a piece of advice the industry treats as settled, run it against real data, and publish what comes back, including the times the conventional answer turns out to be right. Being ahead of the curve isn't a personality trait. It's just checking things other people assume.

How we work

First-party data first

Every study says how many pages, which dates and what tool. If we can't show the method, we don't publish the claim.

We say what we sell

Search Insider sells link building and digital PR alongside its consulting work. No study is shaped to suit that, no tool is reviewed for money, and affiliate or client relationships are disclosed on the page they appear.

Updated, not archived

Studies carry a last-reviewed date. When the platform changes, the post changes, or it gets marked out of date.
